Best Hotels in Kaleiçi (Old Antalya)
These boutique hotels and inns in Kaleiçi (Old Antalya) are delightful! Most have shady gardens, restaurants, swimming pools, and rooms equipped with private baths, air-conditioning, TV, minibar, hair dryers and direct-dial telephones.
Tuvana Hotel
My favorite! For nearly two decades the Tuvana has hosted visitors to Kaleiçi (Old Antalya), and it’s never been better: old Antalya houses with comfortable, even stylish rooms, a nice swimming pool and shady terrace garden, and a Residence section for those who want even more space.
Alanya Castle
Alanya Castle (Alanya Kalesi) is a medieval castle in the southern Turkish city of Alanya. Most of the castle was built in the 13th century under the Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm following the city’s conquest in 1220 by Alaeddin Keykubad I as part of a building campaign that included the Kizil Kule. This castle was built on the remnants of earlier Byzantine era and Roman era fortifications. The castle is located 250 meters high on a rocky peninsula jutting into the Mediterranean Sea, which protects it from three sides. After the area was pacified under the Ottoman Empire, the castle ceased to be purely defensive, and numerous villas were built inside the walls during the 19th century.
Today the building is an open air museum. Access to the seaward castle is ticketed, but much of the area inside the wall, including the landward castle is open to the general public.
PeynirdeliGi Cave Antalya
Location: Antalya, Kemer District
The cave is located at the Gedelme Plateau locality. There is a road connecting Kemer district to Gedelme plateau. With a short walk of approximately 4 minutes is necessary to reach to the cave entrance from the village center. There is a historic wall and ruins belonging to Byzantium at 65 m. north of the cave.
Transport toFrom Alanya, Turkey
Most Alanya transport comes by way of Antalya.
The region’s major airport is at Antalya, 115 km (72 miles) west of Alanya, but the smaller, long-dormant airport 15 km (9 miles) southeast of Alanya on the way to Gazipasa, may be in operation by mid-2008, at least for regional flights.
Most bus service comes through Antalya to Alanya.
Rafting Antalya
Within the Koprulu Canyon National Park, Koprucay is among the most breathtaking rafting centres in the country. Manavagat River rushes powerfully over the rocks, and offers excellent rafting opportunities.
How To Go Antalya
By Road : Antalya is easily accessed from most parts of the country, and the main bus station (Yeni Garaj) is 4km north of the city centre. Major routes include Istanbul (12 hours), Fethiye (8 hours), Izmir (9 hours) and Goreme (10 hours). The best route from Istanbul and Ankara is through Afyon and Burdur. In addition to the large buses and long-distance journeys, which leave from the Sehirlerarasi Terminali, there are also dolmus services to places like Kas, Alanya, Olympos and Side, from the Ilceler Terminali, although these are not air-conditioned. Most bus companies have a free shuttle service from the bus station into the city centre.
